Wall-mounted Neocatechumenal Cross, made of cast gilded brass, dimensions: height 45 cm x 34 cm weight 2.2 kg The glorious cross (world) is so named because of the sphere, depicting the globe, upon which the glorious cross of the Risen Lord is planted—the axis mundi that unites heaven and earth, upon which Jesus Christ showed the totality of God's love for all humanity. Directly above the sphere is Mary in prayer. The Gospels record Mary's presence: Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene (John 19:25). In this version, the cross is surrounded by a halo emanating from the figure of Christ at the intersection of the two axes. At the ends of these axes are the symbols of the four evangelists in their traditional representation: Man (St. Matthew) and Eagle (St. John) on the vertical axis, Ox (St. Luke) and Lion (St. Mark) on the horizontal axis.
